These are some of the models that come from an estate. Some are new in boxes, some have no boxes but new, some are slightly damaged or have parts missing.

 I am busy making a complete inventory.
 
There are Franklin Mint cars, planes and boats still in their boxes and never displayed. There Are Franklin and Danbury Mint cars not in boxes in varying condition that are not catologued yet.
The cars on the bottom two shelves in the cabinet (photo)are pretty rare and in perfect condition.
 
The prices are generally CMV. Some are new prces, some are eBay and other auction prices and some are estimated by me and we welcome iany input in this regard.
The car circled is a Goldvarg 50 Packard Woodie Wagon and our research values this mint in box car anywhere from $100 to $450.

By the late 1960's collectors were becoming frustrated by the lack of 1/43 scale models of many classic road and race cars. Many had managed to obtain models from the french diecast company Solido which weren't widely available in the UK and the fledgling ranges from Brumm and Rio were also just becoming available but there was still a demand amongst collectors for models of many cars which were unlikely to sell in sufficient numbers to make it viable for the major diecast manufacturers to produce them.

 As a result of this demand the white metal kit industry was born and early pioneers like John Day and Mikansue offered a wide range of cars that had never been modelled before but the early kits tended to be very crude and the builder needed good modelmaking skills to be able to produce a reasonable model.

All this changed in 1973 when Mike Stephens launched Western Models. The kits were designed from the outset to be comparatively easy to assemble and in many cases the entire model was held together by just two screws. The clever design and good quality castings, requiring less cleaning up before painting, meant that it was possible to set up a small production line so that Western could market built models as well as kits.

 The company went from strength to strength expanding their range to include vintage, classic, land speed record cars, and sports racing cars as well as forging strong links with some of the Formula One teams leading to the production of 1/43 kits and built models of the latest grand prix cars and promotional models for the teams in scales from 1/87 to 1/4.

 A move to Taunton saw the launch of a very popular 1/200 scale range of aircraft models.

 Company founder Mike Stephens retired a few years ago. The company name carries on as the aircraft range has been taken over by new owners but the model car ranges are long discontinued although they are still popular with collectors all over the world.

No Japanese toy cars were more popular than these '51 Caddies issued by Marusan in 1952. The tinplate body has a separate, plated and painted roof and sports a total of 73 separate parts. Except for the bumperettes, ALL added chrome plated bits including side trim, door handles, multi-piece grille and emblems are made of stamped steel, an incredible achievement for such a small company. The friction powered gray car also existed in red, gold and black colors and was immensely popular. The yellow and green version is electric powered with working front and rear lights and is much rarer as its price was nearly 3 times as much as the basic version.
The tooling for these beauties was made by Matsuzou Kosuge, a master craftsman responsible for the pre-war KS toy cars. Kosuge was a toy designer and tool maker in the 1930's and also worked for the CK company. This splendid 13" toy has no less than 54 separate stampings, all assembled by young Japanese women into this gorgeous toy. It sold in huge numbers.
